·* If your child has any health or medical concerns, please discuss them with us so that we can develop a plan of care. Our goal is to keep your child in good health.

·* Please, always have contact phone numbers available so that the school can reach you in case of an emergency.

·* Call the school to let us know when your child is ill and will not be at school.  Please let school know about symptoms.  We would like to be proactive in dealing with illnesses which the children present with.

*Vision and hearing screening is done for all students during the first few weeks of school. If your child has difficulty seeing or hearing during the initial screening, a second screening will be done in approximately 2 weeks. If the problem is confirmed during the second screening, a letter will be sent to you with information for your eye doctor or health care provider for more definitive testing. Please have this referral information completed and returned to school so that we can follow through with vision or hearing recommendations.

Remember how important good vision and hearing is in your child’s ability to learn!

Please notify the nurse if financial assistance is needed.

Flu Surveillance

With your help we are doing our part at School to monitor this situation.

  • Please keep your children home when sick.

  • If they are sick, please let us know specific symptoms so that we can relay this information to the Health Department.

  • The specific symptoms we report to the Health Department are Febrile respiratory illness

    • Fever or feverishness and recent onset of at least one of the following:

      • rhinorrhea or nasal congestion

      • sore throat

Remember, as with all contagious situations:

Cover your mouth and nose.

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.

Clean your hands.

Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

Practice other good health habits.

Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
